An antique Chinese silver opium chatelaine from the late Qing dynasty (circa 1900). This functional piece of jewelry was traditionally worn on a belt or garment. It contains several handmade silver instruments (including a closable pair of tweezers) for personal care or for preparing an opium pipe. The set is decorated with filigree work and beads of agate or carnelian. Probably some of the chain links are made of a different metal. Length 14 centimeters, weight 30 grams.

Een antieke Chinese zilveren opium chatelaine uit de late Qing-dynastie (rond 1900). Dit functionele sieraad werd van oudsher aan een riem of kledingstuk gedragen. Het bevat verschillende handgemaakte zilveren instrumenten (waaronder afsluitbare pincet) voor persoonlijke verzorging of het preparen van een opiumpijp. De set is versierd met filigraanwerk en bolletjes Agaat of Carneool. Waarschijnlijk zijn een aantal ketting schakeltjes van een ander metaal. lengte 14 centimeter, gewicht 30 gram.
