Description from the seller
Liquor Service Mid-Century (1950s) & Rare Monogrammed Bottle Attributable to S.A.L.I.R. Murano (1960s) - Glass/Crystal - Perfect Condition (Mint)
Exclusive vintage bar/living-room lot composed of two pieces of fine artisanal craftsmanship, both in impeccable condition (MINT): no chips, nicks, clouding, or signs of wear, including bottle necks and caps.
1. Complete Liquor/ cordial Set (1950s - Art Déco / Transitional Style)
• Composition: 1 plump bottle (flattened drop-shouldered bottle) with original spherical cork and 6 coordinating goblet-stemmed tasting glasses with short stems.
• Decoration: Refined white satin-cut on two sides depicting 18th-century gallant scenes (Lady and Knight). The other two sides feature a complex geometric diamond-cut pattern with 16 indentations milled on a wheel and frames of stylized floral branches. The pattern on the glasses masterfully encapsulates the motif with line, dot, and pine needle motifs.
• Closure: Perfect airtight fit “glass onto glass” thanks to the original grind of the neck and stopper.
• Technical data: Lightweight crystal glass. Bottle: H 21 cm (base Ø 6 cm, max width ~10.5 cm) - weight 269 g. Glasses: H 6.5 cm (Ø 4 cm) - weight 34 g each. Total set weight: 473 g.
2. Rare Collector’s Monogrammed Bottle - Murano Craftsmanship (Early 1960s)
• Provenance and History: One-of-a-kind piece of Venetian glass art from a family inheritance. Custom-made in Murano as a personalized gift with the monogram “I C” (the grandmother’s first and last name, born and raised in Murano).
• Craftsmanship and Style: The geometric design combined with floral details, the depth of the engraving, and the characteristic “rice grain” motifs make this work strongly attributable to the prestigious engraving school of S.A.L.I.R. of Murano (Studio Ars Labor Industrie Riunite) or to the high-end production of Nason, historically active on the island in this type of personalized commissions in the early 1960s.
• Technique and Decoration: Transparent, solid Murano art glass, very heavy. The front features the initials “I C” set within a rich frame of milled dots and “rice grain” engravings, surrounded by floral bands and 4 flowers. The sides and back are entirely covered by a dense pattern of irregular diamonds (following the curvature of the glass body), floral arches, and botanical details engraved with a wheel.
• Closure: Large miniature bottle-shaped stopper (H 9 cm) equipped with an original era rubber gasket for a perfect airtight seal.
• Technical data: H 18 cm without stopper (24 cm with stopper). Width 15 cm. Rectangular base with rounded corners (8 x 6 cm). Notable weight: 764 g.
The lot will be carefully packed with professional precision to ensure safe transport of the glass.
