Very rare and large matrimonial bedspread dating to around the 1930s, a unique piece from an antique Sicilian trousseau.

Generous dimensions of 250 x 250 cm in vintage twisted cotton thread of the very highest quality.

The bedspread features exceptional craftsmanship: it is characterized by two wide central crocheted bands (35 cm wide) decorated with imposing 10-petal floral motifs (diameter 26 cm) on a checkered weave.

The main body is embellished with 3 bands in Sicilian filet crochet containing a total of 15 hexagonal geometric inlays and double filet rows.

The peripheral edges display a refined differentiated finish: two sides worked in tall filet crochet of 1 cm and two sides masterfully finished with a drawthread/openwork stitch (punto a giorno).

A high-end collectible item, in excellent condition considering its age.
