Description from the seller
Kingdom of Greece (1892–1898) – Lot of 10 Antique Handwritten Legal & Judicial Documents (9/10 with Rare Watermarks & Revenue Stamps)
An exceptional, highly collectible historical lot of 10 original handwritten judicial and legal documents dating from 1892 to 1898, during the reign of King George I of Greece.
These documents originate from the historical court archives of the city of Patras and offer an authentic, fascinating glimpse into the legal and notary system of the Kingdom of Greece at the end of the 19th century.
Rare Watermarks (9 out of 10 documents): A major highlight of this lot. Nine of the documents feature authentic period watermarks visible when held to the light, confirming the premium, state-issued quality of the paper used at the time.
Official Revenue Stamps: Each document features beautiful, pre-printed official Greek Revenue Stamps of 1 Drachma (blue "ΔΡ. 1 ΜΙΑΣ") and 2 Drachmas (red "ΔΡ. 2 ΔΥΟ") bearing the Royal Coat of Arms of the Kingdom of Greece.
Historical Origin & Signatures: Issued by the Court of First Instance and local prominent notaries. The documents include official signatures, notations, and rare attorney ink stamps.
Elegant Calligraphy: Written in the exquisite, flowing cursive penmanship of late 19th-century Greek legal scribes, making them ideal for framing or display.
In very good antique condition for paper over 130 years old. They show beautiful natural age-toning, light oxidation, and minor edge wear, which only add to their historical character and authenticity. No major tears or damage affecting the text.
The collection will be packed with professional care. Registered shipping.
