Superb Technics SL-D3 vinyl turntable (Silver finish), a flagship fully automatic Direct Drive model from the brand’s golden era (1978-1980). Equipped with an FG-Servo motor for impeccable speed stability and a high-precision S-arm.
Passionate and meticulous, I performed a deep and comprehensive restoration on this unit to restore its original performance and reliability. It is ready for many years of service.
Exhaustive list of works and new components:
New cartridge: Equipped with a new Audio-Technica AT-VM95C cartridge (zero hours of listening, calibrated to Technics 52 mm standard).
Cueing mechanism repaired: Replacement of the internal part (the small notched cylinder, a classic issue on this model) for a smooth and perfectly cushioned arm descent.
New hinges: Replacement of both rear hinges. The lid now stays open perfectly on its own.
New platter mat: The original rubber mat had hardened over time and was replaced with a new, flexible, anti-static model.
New feet: Replacement of the feet to ensure perfect level and anti-vibration isolation.
Full lubrication: Cleaning of old hardened lubricants, greasing of automatic gears with white lithium grease, and oiling of movable axles.
Aesthetic and functional condition:
Mechanical & Electronics: 100% functional. Automatic functions (Start / Stop / Auto Return / Memo-Repeat) are smooth and quiet. The pitch is perfectly stable on the strobe.
Chassis: Very good overall cosmetic condition, aluminum is clean and shiny.
Plexiglass dust cover: Original, it shows a few micro-scratches and normal signs of use for its age, but retains excellent overall transparency (no fracture). The right hinge has been structurally reinforced with steel rods cast into the body and invisible: it fits perfectly into its hinge.
