Icon - Extended Deesis - Wood

authentic 19th-century Russian Orthodox icon depicting "Christ Enthroned" (extended Deesis composition, also known as Sedmitsa).The central figure features Jesus Christ seated on the throne in a blessing gesture, holding an open Gospel. He is flanked by the Virgin Mary and John the Baptist in prayerful intercession (Deesis), surrounded by selected saints and archangels. Two venerable saints are depicted kneeling in deep reverence at the foot of the throne.
Condition Report:The icon is in antique, unrestored condition with a genuine age patina. The front painted surface shows stable paint layers with minor age wear. The wooden board has a significant horizontal age split (lamination) on the side edge and shows historical exit holes from wood-boring beetles on the reverse, which is typical for authentic wooden icons of this age. The wood structural base is stable but would benefit from light conservation.
