Description from the seller
Published by Kadokawa Shoten in 1997, In the Deepest Puddle is Yoshitomo Nara’s first major collection of works and an important early monograph in the artist’s career.
Carefully selected and arranged by Nara himself, the book presents more than 100 paintings and sculptural works from his early period. His now-iconic children—at once innocent, lonely and quietly defiant—appear alongside animals and other recurring motifs, revealing the distinctive visual language he developed while living and working in Germany.
The cover features In the Deepest Puddle II (1995), one of Nara’s best-known early paintings. An essential publication for collectors of Yoshitomo Nara, Japanese contemporary art and artist’s books.
Kadokawa Shoten, Tokyo, 1997. First Edition.
A5 format, 161 pages
CONDITION
The translucent dust jacket shows some yellowing and light soiling, with a small area of loss at the top of the spine. The obi has a few minor stains. There is a very small mark on the rear endpaper. Otherwise, the book itself is in very good condition
