Splendid and elegant antique Napoleone III center centerpiece/basket stand (France, second half of the 19th century). The piece consists of a circular plate of ultra-fine porcelain, decorated along the edge with a vivid sky-blue band (bleu céleste) enriched by bouquets of roses and multicolored flowers, all hand-painted with a brush.
The plate is set into a rich and heavy contemporaneous gilded bronze mount (ormolu). The beautiful articulated movable handle stands out, mounted on lateral pins and finely chased with grapevine and grape motifs in relief. This specific constructive feature answered a precise functional need of the era: the ability to lower the handle laterally allowed easy cutting of any pastry or cake and serving portions at table without the bulk of the structure.
An additional notable detail of high quality lies in the completely disassemblable construction of the mount. Thanks to the era-specific brackets and screws at the base, the entire bronze frame can be easily opened; this design feature allowed, in case of accidental porcelain breakage, to replace the damaged plate with another element of the same diameter, preserving the integrity and use of the bronze artwork.
The base rests on feet decorated with acanthus leaves. On the underside you can see the original hand-made clamping brackets and cutting screws, typical of pre-industrial manufacture. Porcelain produced in white (likely Limoges/Paris) and decorated/assembled subsequently by Paris art studios of the 19th century. No marks visible under the base (covered by the bronze).

Condition:
Excellent overall condition. The porcelain is intact, free of crazing, cracks, or chips. Original gilding on the bronze well preserved with its period patina. The reclining handle mechanism and the disassembly system function perfectly. No structural restoration.
