Offered here is an impressive antique mantel (console) clock in the elegant Louis XVI (Josephinian Neoclassical) style, representing a level of craftsmanship that clearly surpasses the ordinary examples of its period.

The case, crafted entirely from solid wood, has been carved from a single solid block (frontside), demonstrating extraordinary artistic skill. The remarkable depth of the relief carving, the sculptural modelling and the exceptional attention to detail reveal the considerable effort and talent of the master woodcarver. The harmonious architectural design, balanced proportions and outstanding execution give this clock an impressive and dignified presence. The richly ornamented case is adorned with finely carved floral garlands, blossoms and foliage.

The pendulum clock is in working order. To preserve it, and because it is located in a bedroom, it is currently not being run (regularly). Following any transport, a readjustment and fine-tuning at the new location are recommended – as is standard practice for antique pendulum clocks of this type.
