Rare Art Deco coffee machine from the 1930s/40s – Swedish design with original Jena glass – pictured in the reference book “Coffee Makers” by Enrico Maltoni
Description:
You are bidding on an absolutely spectacular and extremely rare collectible from the Art Deco era (ca. 1930–1940). It is a Swedish coffee machine (Model No. 1160) for traditional preparation by infusion/boiling (“Infusion by boiling”).
• Literature reference: This rare model is documented and pictured in the world-famous standard work for coffee collectors “Coffee Makers” by Enrico Maltoni on page 509 (see photo). A true provenance for collectors!
• Feature & Highlight: The inner glass globe is an absolutely original piece made of fireproof Jena glass (Schott & Gen. Jena) – the circular original logo is clearly embossed on the glass!
• Material: Nickel-plated brass with beautifully decorative feet and handles.
• How it works: The water is heated directly with the coffee grounds in the glass globe. Then the hot globe is placed into the metal housing lined with felt/fabric. It closes like a shell, isolates perfectly, and serves as a stylish serving pot with the elegant pour spout (including chain safety).
• Condition: Beautiful, age-appropriate condition with great patina. The rare original glass is intact (see photos). A dream for collectors of design classics, coffee history, or Bauhaus/Art Deco objects..
