Mozambique. - 100 Escudos 1941 - Pick 77

This rare 100 Escudos banknote of Portuguese Mozambique, issued by the Banco Nacional Ultramarino on March 27, 1941 (Pick 77 – BNU MZ80), belongs to one of the most sought-after colonial issues of Portuguese Africa. The obverse depicts António Enes, an important colonial administrator, while the refined design incorporates elaborate typographic decorations and the seal of the Banco Nacional Ultramarino. Although about 500,000 were printed, only a portion actually circulated; a large number was lost during World War II, contributing to the rarity of the issued specimens.
