Description from the seller

The Teac Series 9 Hi-Fi set (composed of the A-9, T-9 and V-9) is an iconic line produced in Japan around 1981. It stands out for the era's “futuristic” aesthetics, featuring front panels with orange inserts and very colorful LED indicators, today highly sought after by collectors for its unique retro-tech style. The P9 turntable is sold separately. The set offered for sale presents very good cosmetic condition, with small signs of wear visible in the photos, which are an integral part of the description. It should be noted that one of the springs of the speaker terminals remains slightly “open” but it functions perfectly (see photo). Functionally, the set is in excellent condition and the belts on the deck have been replaced.

The Teac A-9 amplifier (1981) is an “Integrated DC Servo” component designed to deliver high fidelity in a compact footprint with a futuristic look. It features a DC Servo system: It uses a “Double Integral DC Servo” circuit that eliminates the need for coupling capacitors in the signal path, ensuring deeper bass reproduction and superior thermal stability.
Final Stage: Purely complementary Darlington design, with a shielded toroidal transformer that reduces electromagnetic interference.
Phono Configuration: Includes a versatile pre-phono with MM (2.4 mV) and MC (0.5 mV) cartridge selector, with a signal-to-noise ratio of 82 dB and 67 dB respectively.
Technical Specifications
Output Power: 60W + 60W RMS into 8 ohms (20 Hz – 20 kHz).
Frequency Response: Extended from 15 Hz to 80 kHz.
Total Harmonic Distortion (THD): Very low, equal to 0.01% at nominal power.
Damping Factor: 30, which provides a transparent and non-fatiguing sound.
Front panel indicators: LED indicators with red VU meters for signal level monitoring.
Tone Controls: Bass (100 Hz ± 10 dB) and Treble (10 kHz ± 10 dB) with slide faders.
Filters and Muting: Includes a subsonic filter (25 Hz, 18 dB/oct) to protect the woofers from vinyl record noise and a -20 dB muting function.
Inputs: Phono (MM/MC), Tuner, Aux, and two Tape inputs with monitoring.

The Teac T-9 tuner (1981) is the ideal technological companion to the A-9 amplifier. It is an AM/FM receiver that marks the definitive transition from analog systems to quartz-controlled digital ones, focusing entirely on signal stability.
Features and Operation
Quartz Digital Synthesis (PLL): The Phase-Locked Loop system ensures the frequency does not drift thermally, keeping the tuning perfectly centered on the desired station.
Preset Memories: It offers the ability to store 10 stations (5 FM and 5 AM), a feature at the time very advanced that allowed immediate recall of preferred channels.
Auto Search: It has an automatic scanning function that stops as soon as it detects a signal of sufficient intensity.
Technical Specifications
Sensitivity (FM): 1.9 µV (10.8 dBf), making it very effective even in areas with weak radio signals.
Signal-to-Noise Ratio: Exceptional for an tuner of the era, with 80 dB in Mono and 72 dB in Stereo.
Stereo Separation: 52 dB (at 1 kHz), guaranteeing a wide and well-defined sound stage.
Harmonic Distortion: Extremely low (0.08% in mono, 0.1% in stereo).
Frequency Response: From 30 Hz to 15 kHz (+0.2 / -0.5 dB), covering the entire FM standard spectrum.
Panel and Connections
Digital Display: Shows the exact frequency via a green alphanumeric display, coordinated with the A-9’s VU meters.
Variable Output: A rare feature is the adjustable output (from 80 to 2000 mV), allowing level matching of the tuner to other sources such as the turntable.
Antennas: Supports both classic 300 ohms (flat) and 75 ohms (coaxial) for FM.

The Teac V-9 (1981) is the flagship piece mechanically. It is a 2-head cassette deck distinguished by its superior tracking accuracy, thanks to an internal architecture derived from Teac/Tascam professional models.
Mechanical and Cartridges
3-Motor System: Unlike many economical single-motor decks of the era, the V-9 uses three independent motors (one for take-up/Capstan, one for rewind, and one for services). This greatly reduces wow & flutter.
Permalloy Cartridges: Uses high-density heads offering good wear resistance and a linear frequency response, ideal for capturing high-frequency details.
Total Logic Mechanics: Touch-sensitive (electronic) controls allow switching from one function to another (e.g., from rewind to play) without pressing stop, protecting the tape from pulls.

Technical Specifications
Frequency Response:
Metal Tape: 20 Hz – 19 kHz
Chrome/Cobalt Tape: 20 Hz – 18 kHz
Signal-to-Noise Ratio: 59 dB (without Dolby), rising to about 70 dB with Dolby B active.
Wow & Flutter: Only 0.045% (WRMS), an excellent value ensuring extremely stable playback speed.
Tape Compatibility: Selector for Normal (Type I), Chrome (Type II) and Metal (Type IV) tapes.
Special Features and Aesthetics
"Color Blocks" Display: The most iconic element. Two large colored LED bars show peak levels, making recording calibration both intuitive and visually striking.
Fine Bias: Includes a potentiometer for fine tuning the bias, allowing optimization of recording depending on the specific cassette brand used.
Digital Tape Counter: A three-digit green LED display, much more precise than mechanical wheel counters.
Timer Standby: Ready to start recording or playback via an external timer.

The set will be packed carefully and shipping will be insured.
