Height: 30 cm
As this is handcrafted work, there may be slight variations in size and color compared with the photos and among different pieces of the same series.
A vase shaped and turned by hand, with a blue crackle glaze over a body of white chamotte-fired clay at 5%.
The piece was created using the Raku process. A traditional Japanese ceramic firing technique dating back to the 16th century. This method is characterized by its spectacular and unpredictable aesthetics, with glazes and decorations that often take on unique and unrepeatable effects.
The piece was fired in a neutral atmosphere for about nine hours at 880°C in the first firing, and subsequently, after applying the glaze, it was fired in a second firing in a gas kiln at 980°C,
Once the object reaches the desired temperature and the glazes have melted, it is quickly removed from the kiln with tongs.
Once removed from the kiln, the object was immediately immersed in a combustive material (in this case, sawdust).
This causes an accelerated oxidation reaction, which leads to cracks in the glaze.

The vases themselves are highly vitrified and waterproof; there is nothing toxic or dangerous that could leak out.
