Description from the seller
Elegant pair of French Louis XV-style dining chairs with hand-woven cane backrests – circa 1900–1925
A stylish and decorative pair
Offered is a beautiful matching pair of dining chairs in French Louis XV style, made around the early 20th century.
The chairs combine elegantly curved cabriole legs with richly carved details and hand-woven cane backrests.
Refined woodcarving
The solid wood frame features graceful floral and foliate relief. Both the crest above the backrest and the rails under the seat are carved with care. The warm walnut-colored finish gives the chairs a classic look.
Hand-woven cane
Both backrests are fitted with tautly stretched, hand-woven natural cane. This is a traditional craft that is not only decorative but also provides a light and elegant appearance.
Comfortable seats
The generously shaped seats are upholstered in a light green velour fabric with a woven damask pattern. The upholstery is in neat condition and is framed by a row of classic upholstery nails.
Condition
The chairs are in good used condition, appropriate for their age. The wood shows light signs of use and at a few leg ends normal wear is visible. The cane is tight and intact. See the photos for a full picture of the condition.
