Description from the seller

Magnificent wall sconce made in cast bronze, featuring an enigmatic grotesque figure inspired by antiquity. The sculpture presents a combination of human and fantastical traits: pointy ears, beard, a torso with breasts, a prominent belly, and a deeply theatrical expression, evoking the mythological and decorative imagery of the Renaissance and Historicism.

The two satin-finish glass tulips, flame-shaped, enhance the piece's symbolic character, providing warm illumination and a strong visual impact.

This is an extraordinarily uncommon model. Its iconography is difficult to classify with certainty, possibly recalling representations of Silenus, satyrs, or grotesque figures inspired by Classical Antiquity. precisely that ambiguous and mysterious character is one of its greatest attractions for collectors of artistic lighting and decorative arts.

Measurements:
Height: 42 cm
Width: 30 cm
Depth: 11 cm
Weight: approx. 2.5 kg
Estimated era: late 19th century, first third of the 20th century.

The sconce is presented in very good condition, with normal signs of use consistent with its age. It has been inspected, cleaned and has a functional electrical installation.

A decorative piece of great personality, difficult to find and destined to become the centerpiece of any collection or classic interior.
