Description from the seller

Very Rare first issue of the Tintin fascicule collection in Dutch, dated September 26, 1946, in a state we would call truly unusual and exceptional, since these issue 1s have almost always spent many years at the top of stacks of booklets in attics, which explains the usual discolorations and the small tears that are very often found on these fascicules reputed to be unobtainable in TTBE.

The print run of these fascicules is very small, 20,000 copies in Dutch, i.e. about half the copies in French, which explains why these issues in New/As New condition are often sold at high prices when one is found.

Also see "Le Temple du Soleil," whose adventure begins in the central pages of this fascicle.

One must read the presentation "Tintin vous parle" to realize that just after the war, the publisher M. Leblanc was not 100% sure the magazine would have great success. Tintin had to present the Thursday journal... and Hergé provided a large number of drawings in this issue.

In very beautiful condition or as new, this fascicle is reputed to be very often absent from collections — a fascicle to consider as a “top piece” in a Tintin fascicle collection, and, without a doubt, a very wise investment piece.

Probably among the finest copies available on the market.

This copy is presented for sale, found in its owner’s possession, with no retouching or restoration whatsoever, which is quite unusual. No tears, no rust traces, except the usual patina due to the age of this rare fascicle.

Lot to be framed.
