Description from the seller
A sphere carved from a single large block of natural malachite from the Congo, an area known for the quality and color intensity of this mineral. The material was selected for compactness and structural variety, then worked and polished to best enhance the natural pattern.
The surface shows a well-defined combination of structures: in the upper part there are fluid and stratified concentric bands, while in the lower part a typical botryoidal texture develops, made up of compact globular aggregates. The transition zone between these two morphologies is particularly evident and represents an element of great collecting interest.
The tones range from deep dark green to lighter and more translucent shades, with natural contrasts produced by the mineral’s growth in an oxidizing environment. In some areas small cavities and granular variations are visible, authentic testimony of the formation process.
Malachite is a basic copper carbonate, formed by alteration of primary minerals in the presence of carbon dioxide-rich solutions. The botryoidal and banded structures derive from different deposition conditions, which are directly reflected in the visible pattern.
An specimen suitable for mineral and natural object collectors, with strong aesthetic impact and good readability of the internal structures.
Technical data:
Mineral: Natural malachite
Origin: Congo
Form: Polished sphere
Structure: Botryoidal and banded
Conditions: Excellent general conditions
Treatments: None, only cutting and polishing
Use: Collection / display / natural home decor
