Five-seat cinema seating block by SMI from Italy dating to 1930–1940, constructed of curved wood with a glossy finish and black metal legs, folding seats with automatic return, dimensions 254 × 50 × 82 cm and weight 42.2 kg, in used original condition with typical wear and minor missing pieces.
Description from the seller
Original 5-seat block from a cinema/theater hall of SMI (Società Metallurgica Italiana). Classic period structure, very sturdy, designed for heavy use.
The seats are made of curved wood with a glossy finish that highlights the grain. The legs are black metal, simple and functional. The seats are of the fold-down type (they close by themselves when not occupied).
Conditions (Read carefully):
The chairs are used and preserved in their original state. They have not been restored to new condition, so they show all the marks of their history:
Wood: Scratches, small chips and scattered signs of wear (especially on the edges and armrests). In one area you can see a small loss of the top layer of wood (see detail photo).
Metal: The black paint on the legs shows small spots of superficial rust and scratches, but the structure is perfectly solid and stable.
Mechanical: The folding mechanism of the seats still works well on all four seats.
