Nightstand - Walnut

A small masterpiece of nineteenth-century cabinetmaking that truly deserves attention! The piece is made of solid walnut, with a gommalacca finish and ornamental carvings of great refinement. It features an upper drawer and a bombé front door, framed by carved columns with vegetal motifs and scrolls. The shaped base and the protruding top complete the composition, giving balance and movement to the lines. Of Lombard-Venetian production (Italy) and datable between 1850 and 1880 in the full “Louis-Philippe” style, it presents sinuous lines and compact proportions, decorative leaf and scroll carvings, a solid and bombé structure, typical of mid-nineteenth-century bourgeois production and discreet and original hardware. This style blends elegance and functionality, with French influences and Italian taste.
