These rugs are made in Afghanistan according to traditions established in the Arak region in Iran. The British company Ziegler started production there in the 1870s, adapting rugs to European tastes. The motifs are often copied from Persian rugs. The wool is of very good quality and dyed with natural plant-based dyes.
