Knife rest (12) - Crystal

A set of 12 vintage crystal knife rests, preserved in their original La Samaritaine department store box in Paris. These objects, known in French as porte-couteaux, are elegant table accessories used to prevent staining the tablecloth with the blades of knives during meals. Made in Bohemian crystal, the inscription reads Tchecoslovaquie, with geometric designs typical of the Art Deco style. Historically sold at La Samaritaine, one of Paris's most famous department stores founded in 1870. The complete 12-piece sets in their original box are highly sought after in the vintage and antiques market. Dating from the 1930s.
