Description from the seller

Precious antique pedestal centerpiece produced by the famous art foundry B. Giacosa of Turin, active at the turn between the late 19th and early 20th century. The object consists of a refined circular brass mounting supported by claw feet decorated in ferine (stylized paws) shapes, typical of the eclectic and Italian Umbertine style. On the outer underside it is clearly impressed in semicircle with the original factory mark of the company: "B. GIACOSA / TORINO", topped by small five-pointed stars. At the center of the base there is the threaded pin with the massive iron nut of the period, bearing witness to absolute structural integrity and the absence of modern restorations or tampering. Inside is set a magnificent circular porcelain insert finely hand-painted in miniature. The central decoration depicts a winged Putto (Cupid) with bow in a bucolic landscape softly shaded. The scene is framed by a taut polychromy with geometric reserves alternated in burgundy, saturated orange and pastel pink, richly finished with geometric motifs and radiating details in genuine gold, recalling the sumptuous taste of the Vienna Manufactory (Vienna Style) of the late nineteenth century.
