Tanzanian and Mozambican masks constitute a minority on the African art market. They have been relatively little collected and especially little studied.
Fine example, very well preserved here.
It comes from the Makonde ethnic group. We find a fairly archaic approach in the formalism and additional elements.
The high-end pedestal is included.
