Description from the seller

Object Description:Magnificent high-precision analytical laboratory/apothecary balance, manufactured in Belgium by the prestigious company Anc. Etabl. Becker S.A. Bruxelles during the first half of the 20th century (estimated c. 1920-1940).The main mechanism is entirely made of high-quality polished brass, featuring the official maker's mark engraved on the upper beam: the iconic heraldic eagle perched on a branch, guaranteeing the absolute authenticity of all mechanical components. The front base of the column retains the original manufacturer's plate and the millimeter pointer scale. The instrument is enclosed in a solid hardwood showcase cabinet, with all original glass panels completely intact and free of cracks (side panels, back panel, and the front sliding guillotine window). It also includes the original adjustable metal leveling feet at the base and the external arrestment lever. The lot includes an original period wooden weight block, containing several cylindrical calibration weights in grams (the largest marked 50g) and several original fractional sheet weights in decigrams (marked "DECIG."), designed with turned-up corners for forceps handling.Condition Report:Balance and Cabinet: Excellent aesthetic and structural condition. Well-preserved woodwork. Brass mechanism shows a beautiful natural patina. All glass panels are intact, with no cracks or chips.Weight Box: The wooden case shows minor age-related wear. Important note: The weight set is incomplete, with some empty slots in the upper section and the original tweezers missing (please refer to the detailed photographs).A superb piece of industrial and scientific archaeology, perfect for discerning collectors or as a high-end decorative statement piece for offices, libraries, or retail environments.
