Beautiful original carved speculaas plank featuring 16 different detailed artisan-engraved figures with classic Old Dutch motifs, formerly used by a baker to shape speculaas cookies.
The stamping of this type of plank was often done by a professional plank-carver but also by the baker himself, who was usually taught during his training.
This speculaas plank is marked on the top by the maker with the number 3; this is the model number so the baker could choose from different models.
Age: late 19th century
Stored in good, lightly used condition with a nice patina.
