Elegant molded crystal centrepiece/fruit bowl with a solid 800 silver base, Italian-made in Florence, dating from the mid‑20th century (likely 1960s–1980s), dimensions 33 × 15 × 12 cm, in excellent condition with complete FI hallmarks.
Description from the seller
Elegant centerpiece / fruit bowl in frosted crystal with a base in 800 silver, of Italian production, attributable to the Florentine craftsmanship.
Epoch
Second half of the 20th century, presumably 1960s–1980s.
The hallmark with a star + number + provincial code “FI” (Florence) is typical of the Italian system introduced after 1968, which identifies the silversmith and the production province.
Provenience
Italian production – Florence (FI), an important historic center of artistic silverware.
Punching / Stamping
Title: 800 (silver 80%)
Brand: star + identifying number (334) + FI
This system certifies both the purity of the silver and the registered silversmith.
Materials
Bowl: frosted crystal and engraved
Base: solid 800 silver (probably a hollow structure with an internal core, typical Italian production)
Techniques of fabrication
Crystal worked with cuts in geometric and floral motifs (classic “molato” style)
Shaped profile with a wavy edge
Base in silver made by:
- casting and turning
- mirror polishing
- possible manual finishing
The contrast between the transparency of the crystal and the brilliance of the silver gives great elegance and luminosity.
Dimensions
Length: 33 cm
Width: 15 cm
Height: 12 cm
Style
Classic Italian tabletop style, with echoes of elegant mid-century taste, suitable both as a fruit bowl and as a decorative element.
Conditions
Excellent overall condition
Crystal free of cracks
Observations
Refined decorative object, typical of Italian production intended for both the refined domestic market and export. The presence of the complete hallmark increases collecting interest.
