Lot Description
Technical Specifications:
Country: United States of America
Face Value: 1/2 Dollar (Half Dollar - 50 Cents)
Year: 1915
Mint: Philadelphia (No mint mark on reverse)
Composition: 0.900 Silver (90% Silver, 10% Copper)
Diameter: 30.6 mm
1915 Barber Half Dollar - P - Circulated - Last Year of Issue!
Weight: 11.20 g
Numismatic Highlights (Commercial Appeal):
Rarity and Scarcity: This specimen comes from the final full year of production of the iconic series designed by Chief Engraver Charles E. Barber – Barber Half Dollar, Philadelphia - PCGS VF30 - CoinsTV. It has an extremely low mintage of only 138,450 coins (1915 50C Regular Strike) Barber Half Dollar - PCGS CoinFacts, making it one of the most sought-after and difficult-to-obtain “key dates” in mid/high grade condition.
Preserved Details: Unlike the vast majority of surviving coins from this year, which circulated to the limit, this piece features the word "LIBERTY" perfectly sharp and legible on the crown. On the reverse, the vertical lines of the shield retain excellent structural definition and the ribbon with the inscription "E PLURIBUS UNUM" is fully visible.
Condition: The coin shows moderate, uniform wear, compatible with the official standards of a Very Fine grade (VF30 / VF35) on the international PCGS Photograde scale.
Important Note to Bidders (Sales Conditions): The numerical rating presented (VF30/VF35) is based on an independent technical assessment of wear criteria and serves only as a rough guide. The grading of ancient coins is a subjective activity. It is exclusively up to the bidder to carefully review the provided high-resolution images to form their own assessment and determine the coin’s actual condition before bidding.
