Description from the seller
Ouchebti in glazed faience with turquoise blue glaze having greenish nuances, with a stocky build. The head with ears free is framed by a smooth tripartite wig held in place by a black band tied at the back, the modelling intentionally simplified. The hands crossed on the chest each hold a stylized hoe, while a grain basket with a squared mesh is depicted on the back. The front face presents a hieroglyphic column framed by two vertical strokes and open at the top, mentioning the title of the deceased: “Osiris, the divine father of Amon-Rê, king of the gods.” All details, including the frontal column of hieroglyphs, are painted in black.
Note on the inscription: The hieroglyphic column mentions “Osiris, the divine father of Amon-Rê, king of the gods.” However, the reading of the first title is not entirely certain. Depending on the interpretation adopted and the possible omission of a sign by the scribe, it may be read either as ỉt-nṯr (“divine father”) or as ḥm-nṯr (“priest”) of Amon-Râ-sonter. The absence of the deceased’s name on this example remains difficult to interpret with certainty and could result from either an abbreviated inscription or the omission of a sign during its creation. Nevertheless, some groups of ošechbtis do show a distribution of inscriptions, some bearing the owner’s name while others mention only his title.

- Condition: Very good overall, showing light surface wear and a few small glaze flakes at the level of the hairstyle and base, otherwise intact. Mounted on a black wooden base.
