Description from the seller
Up for auction: a fascinating piece of coffee culture history—a manual flywheel coffee grinder, a superb example of domestic engineering and design from the first half of the twentieth century. The item is in excellent condition thanks to careful, philological restoration work that preserved its authenticity and historical soul while restoring full splendor and functionality. The upper mechanical part is dominated by a large, side-mounted cast-iron flywheel, enriched with curvilinear geometric motifs. The wheel’s movement, operated by the original shaped wooden knob, drives a visible bevel-gear system that ensures smooth and constant grinding. The metal hopper features relief decorations that attest to the era’s artisanal care. The base consists of a solid box in fine wood, characterized by a refined contoured line on both the top surface and the supporting base. On the front, the small pull-out drawer with a metal knob collects coffee dust and glides perfectly. This coffee grinder represents a perfect union of retro aesthetics and practicality. It is a collectible object with a strong visual impact, ideal for enriching a rustic kitchen, a living room, or the display of a venue, but it is also ready to use for those who wish to rediscover the ritual of traditional grinding.
