The EWE live in a coastal region extending from Ghana, Togo and Benin to the
borders of Nigeria.
They practice a twin cult very similar to that of the Yoruba, and it is within
this framework that these statuettes are produced; in the very varied styles they are sometimes
influenced by proximity (Akhan on the Ghana side, Yoruba on the Nigerian side)...
