Complete dinner service for 6 people produced by Schumann Arzberg Bavaria in the Seventies.

The dinner service offered at auction was made by Schumann Arzberg and decorated with an unusual design that sits halfway between Space Age style and Postmodern design. Probably datable to the mid-1960s, the bold and crisp décor, with psychedelic twists and pop colors, is typical of these years and widespread in the Central European region.

One of the main protagonists of design during this historical period is Hans Theo Baumann (1924-2016), a visionary freelance designer who, starting in 1954, designed porcelain objects for over fifty German manufactories, revolutionizing the language and style of German tableware porcelain. Baumann brought Op-Art-style drawings to plates and vases that spoke a new language, highly regarded for its vivid colors. Many Bavarian manufactories turned to him to rework their own models and decorations, generating a genuine artistic movement that distinguished German-made porcelain from that of other countries for at least a decade.
