Description from the seller

Lid box in the Amsterdam School style, raffia and cardboard, Netherlands, 1920s/30s.

This handmade box is an example of arts-and-crafts in the Amsterdam School style, from the Art Deco period of the 1920s/30s. It is a rare and characteristic product of raffia weaving in a geometric pattern of orange and natural raffia. Raffia weave was used more frequently in these years—think of the bindings of the magazine Wendingen, also made of raffia!
Inside the lid, attention has also been paid, and a cube-shaped red wooden bead serves as a handle.
The bottom cushion is (probably) a later addition and does not quite fit the style.

There are several of these (cardboard) boxes known; the weaving often shows a different—but always geometric—pattern. Dimensions: 14 x 14 x 6 cm.

Given its age, this object is in excellent condition.
