Set of six antique silver dinner knives with pistol-grip handles, in good used condition with small signs of aging and spots, origin Netherlands, silver types .925 and .934, total length 27 cm (knife blades) and 10 cm handles, total weight 775 g.

Special set of 6 dinner knives with antique silver pistol grip handles.
4 knives are marked with: standing lion 1 (925/1000) Minerva head, year letter B = 1911 and master CB* = Carel Begeer.
2 knives are both marked with master VM in a diamond shape. One of the knives still has a remnant of another hallmark but that is unfortunately not easy to identify. Possibly a Frisian mark.
Given the material and the master mark in diamond, these 2 knives date from around 1810 (in the French period master marks in diamond had to be struck off).
The blades of these 2 knives are also original from the period and are marked with a kind of bird (smiths also placed their mark on the blades).
The 4 knives from 1911 are most likely extra-made. What makes them very attractive is that the blades were also forged in the style of 18th-century work.
The 2 18th-century knives are a fraction thicker than the other 4. It is truly minuscule and barely noticeable but should be mentioned. See the photos for your own impression.
