Rare Art Nouveau Plaque in Solid Copper Casting – Subject "The Kiss of the Amourins" – late 1800s to early 1900s-

Refined bas-relief in Art Nouveau style (Liberty style) dating to the period around the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century (circa 1890-1910).
The work depicts a tender mythological scene: the kiss between two cherubs (or putti).
The design embodies the Liberty aesthetics of the era, characterized by sinuous, sculptural lines of the figures’ hair that blend with floral motifs and stylized botanical details that frame the edges of the plaque.
Technical Features and Material
This specimen stands out for its craftsmanship in rare solid copper casting.
The object presents a solid structure with a base thickness of 2 mm, which increases significantly at points of plastic work, reaching a relief depth of 6 mm at the maximum projection, where the faces and anatomical details emerge in a strongly three-dimensional way.
The casting is fully hollow, as evidenced by the significant specific gravity (250 grams) relative to the overall dimensions of 18x8 cm.
The reverse shows the characteristics of the casting process, with the typical signs of shrinkage of molten metal, confirming the authenticity of the artisanal foundry process of the early 1900s.
Condition and Patina
The item is presented in excellent period conditions, structurally intact and free of deformations, cracks, or restorations.
It retains the patina characterized by intense brownish tones on the front, which enhance the depth of the bas-relief, and the typical natural reddish oxidations on the back. It has two small period holes positioned at the upper corners.
