Description from the seller
Splendid and rare patinated plaster reproduction of the Great Riding Seal of Queen Elizabeth I of England 1558-1603.
Piece of high artisanal quality. These reproductions were handmade by English specialized workshops for collectors, law firms and universities, taking the mold directly from the originals kept at the British Museum
DESCRIPTION AND DETAILS:
Subject: Elizabeth I on horseback with royal attributes: scepter, globus cruciger, Elizabethan ruff and mantle.
inscription: Complete in Latin on the edge. ELIZABETHA DEI GRATIA ANGLIAE FRANCIAE ET HIBERNIAE REGINA FIDEI DEFENSOR
Material: Composite plaster with hand-applied brown patina. Under the patina the original white plaster emerges, visible in the back photos.
Technique: Very high relief and chiseled detail. Casting bubbles and the era patina typical of productions of the time are noticeable.
CONDITIONS:
Piece in conditions consistent with an age of over 150 years.
Shows a normal crack from plaster shrinkage at the bottom, typical and stable, already present for some time. It does not compromise the stability nor the legibility of the relief.
For the rest: normal wear patina, small wear and micro losses of patina. No restoration. Sold as shown in the detailed photos.
PROVENANCE AND STYLE:
Collectible and decorative object. Perfect for studies, libraries, Tudor and English history lovers. It is not a modern souvenir but an era reproduction, made with great craftsmanship.
SHIPPING:
Tracked and insured shipping ONLY for the European Union and the United Kingdom. I do not ship outside Europe and I do not ship to Eastern European countries. Professional packaging guaranteed to protect the plaster. Shipping costs calculated based on the destination country.
