This Marka mask, a style very close to that of their Bambara neighbors, is intended for the initiation rites of uncircumcised youths. Note the angular aquiline nose, sunken orbits. The head is topped with two small horns. The face is covered with brass plates.

Dense and hard wood. Beautiful patina.

Ce masque marka de style très proche de leurs voisins Bambara, est destiné aux rites d'initiation des jeunes non circoncis. On remarque le nez anguleux aquilin, des orbites enfoncées. La tête est surmontée de deux petites cornes. Le visage est recouvert de plaques de laiton.

Bois dense et dur. Belle patine.
