Among the Dan Mahou, the masks named "Guégo" are distinguished by the bird's beak: they embody the spirits of the forests. They participate in village ceremonies to resolve conflicts.
The lacquered black patina is obtained with latex and pigments: the mask is then polished with rough leaves. The dimensions of the mask are always small, the head and the body of the wearer of the mask being completely covered with raffia fibers during the dance.

Chez les Dan Mahou, les masques dénommés "Guégo" se distinguent par le port d'un bec d'oiseau: ils incarnent les esprits des forêts. Ils participent aux cérémonies villageoises afin de résoudre des conflits.
La patine noire laquée est obtenue avec du latex et de pigments: le masque est ensuite poli avec des feuilles 
rugueuses. Les dimensions du masque sont toujours restreintes, la tête et le corps du porteur du masque étant totalement recouverts de fibres de raphia lors de la danse.
