Louis XIII walnut solid wood chair from France, authentic 17th-century side chair with a high rectangular back, turned legs with spindles and decorative floral upholstery, copper-nail trim, dimensions 110 cm high, 40 cm wide, 55 cm deep, seat height about 50 cm, in good condition with age-related wear and stains.
Description from the seller
I have placed a second chair identical for sale at the same time (it is not possible to ship them together due to weight and carriers: if a buyer wins both auctions, they will be sent at the same time by the same carrier)
Louis XIII chair in good condition.
Height: 110 cm
Width: 41 cm
Length/depth: 60 cm
Seat height (approx): 50 cm
20 kilos each.
Cushioned with flowers in relief, copper rivets.
Original condition,
slight corrosion, some wear due to age and use,
- Structure and joints: The seat frame is solid wood with pegged mortise-and-tenon joints (visible at the joins of the legs and crossbars). No modern screws, nails, or metal staples, artisanal 17th-century construction. The wooden pegs (pegs) are irregular and patinated,
- Inner padding: One can see a jute fabric or old webbing beneath the upholstery, with what appears to be stuffing in vegetal or animal hair (typical of the 17th century, no synthetic foam).
a genuine chair from the Louis XIII period
(around 1620-1650, France).
- Straight chair (side chair) typical of bourgeois or noble ensembles for dining rooms or reception areas, with Flemish influences (twists and beads in a rosary).
- Louis XIII – turned legs with twists and balls, H-stretcher, tall rectangular back, floral carved motifs (rosettes on the feet).
- Materials: Solid walnut (grain and dark patina confirmed), floral tapestry (jacquard or petit point), copper or brass nails.
- General condition: Good for its age – just normal wear (inactive worm holes, patina).
Pickup in person or shipment by parcel.
