Description from the seller
Fratino Table in Solid Wood - Italian Renaissance Style
Splendid central or refectory table, commonly called "Fratino", made of solid wood with a rich dark patina that enhances its historic character and timeless elegance. This piece stands out for its sturdy construction and the refinement of the hand-carved details.
Main Features:
Top: Large rectangular top with molded edges. Under the edge runs a splendid carved beaded frame (petal or berry motif), typical of the late Renaissance style.
Base: Supported by two imposing vase/Lyre-shaped legs, finely carved with acanthus leaf motifs and lateral volutes.
Central crosspiece: The legs are connected by a sturdy horizontal crossbar, enriched at the center by a shell-carved medallion (scallop) and scroll terminations, which ensures extreme stability and aesthetic prestige.
Feet: The table rests on dramatic lion-paw feet (or beast heads), a symbol of nobility and strength in period furniture.
Condition:
The piece is presented in overall excellent condition, with normal signs of wear that attest to its authenticity and enhance its charm (small natural cracks in the wood or slight surface marks as visible in the photo). The structure is solid and ready to be placed in a prestigious living room, study, or dining room.
