Refined Writing Desk with Director Style, with Perimeter Lip and Compartments
Elegant and precious mid-century desk for the center (or bonheur du jour) characterized by a splendid, sinuously curved line. A timeless classic piece that unites aesthetics and functionality, perfect for enriching a gentleman’s study, a drawing room, or a bedroom.
The piece features a perimetric raised top with small, practical drawers ideal for correspondence, in addition to three main drawers arranged beneath the working surface. The top is embellished with a fixed insert (hand-sub) in red leather with elegant gold embossing along the edge. The fronts of the drawers and the upper surface are finished with fine inlays and geometric marquetry in contrasting wood.
The slender structure rests on four square-section dagger legs, a hallmark of the Director style.
Conditions:
The piece is in good overall structural condition. However, as clearly visible in the photographs, the small metal pull on the upper-right raised-top drawer is missing. There is a small crack and light surface blemishes on the leather insert, in addition to the normal and physiological signs of time on the wood polish, which attest to the piece’s authenticity and age. All other drawers are functional and equipped with their hardware.
