Ancient Greek bronze spearhead blade with blood channels, a leaf-shaped blade with a central groove and parallel fullers on either side, circa 1st millennium BC, 46.5 cm long and 7.5 cm wide, mounted on a custom stand in very good condition.

An extremely fine Ancient Greek spearhead blade cast from bronze featuring a leaf-shaped blade which tapers to a point. To the centre is a wide groove along with parallel fullers on either side acting as blood channels. The blade narrows to a thin square-sectioned tang. Beautiful patination covers the surface and the blade is mounted on a custom-made stand.
Excavated items most often included weapons, tools, vessels and finials, but ornamental pieces such as amulets, fittings and jewellery such as pins or bracelets also feature in the material record. Early models of spearheads were designed looking like flat dagger-like blade with a thin tang which would be used to attach the metal head to a wooden shaft and be tied to the body. Later designs, such as this one, would evolve to provide side support which would allow a more secure attachment to the weapon.
