Description from the seller

Larry CLARK (1943)

Larry Clark is an American photographer and filmmaker known for his raw depictions of youth culture. Often at the center of controversy, Clark's black-and-white images capture sexuality, drug use and violence as in his photo diary Tulsa (1971) and his first feature film Kids (1995). Capable of establishing an intimate relationship with his subjects, Clark explains, "I am a storyteller. Taking a photo and moving on has never interested me. I like to stay with the people I photograph for a long time." Born January 19, 1943 in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Clark studied at a commercial photography school after having been the assistant to his mother, a portrait photographer for babies and infants. Clark lives and works currently between Los Angeles and New York. His major retrospective, "Kiss the Past Hello," was presented at the Musée d’Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris in 2010 and solo exhibitions have taken place notably at Urbi et Orbi Gallery in Paris, at the Taka Ishii Gallery in Tokyo and at the International Center of Photography in New York.
