these are the test drawings by (Georges Guido FILIBERTI) (1881-1970) for the upcoming book by (Alexandre Kouprine) which was published. The original title of the book was (Fosse aux Filles). Rare drawings dating from the years 1915 and 1920 illustrating life in nocturnal Russia and a critical novel about prostitution and social misery in a southern Russian city in the Faubourg quarter (Iamskaia Sloboda in short The Fosse). But the arrival of the railway at the end of the 19th century revolutionized transportation and the coachmen disappeared. The district, already a center of drunkenness and debauchery, then became a center of prostitution.
