Antique French gilded brass boudoir jewellery casket with repoussé putti motifs and a thick faceted glass lid, dating to 1850–1900, dimensions 8 x 5.5 x 6 cm, weight 125 g, in worn condition with probable small missing pieces.
Description from the seller
This antique French jewelry casket is made of brass with raised repoussé decorations depicting putti and features a lid in thick matted glass. It measures 8 x 5.5 x 6 cm and weighs 125 g.
The frame is gilded brass, finely worked in repoussé in a style typical of 19th-century French boudoir boxes. The sides portray bucolic or mythological scenes with playing putti, set in classical landscapes. The lid is made of thick, molded glass and has a small chip that you can notice in the photos, while the interior is lined in silk with a quilted (capitonnè) technique and is slightly worn from age.
Despite the signs of wear that attest to its history, this piece remains a splendid testament to the past and, at the same time, a precious, decorative, era-worthy collector’s item. In original antique patina.
Shipping will be fast and insured for its full value. The photos are considered an integral part of the description. We do not ship outside Europe. At the end of the auction, please check the message center where you will receive photos of the packaging and instructions for receipt.
