Description from the seller
We present a Beijing Aubusson Savonnerie Chinese rug, made between 1960 and 1980, fully hand-knotted in wool and silk over cotton and signed by the master weaver.
This elegant piece belongs to the high-end Chinese Aubusson production, renowned for its extremely tight weave, fine and dense pile, and the abundant use of silk in the decorative motifs, which gives a distinctive golden sheen.
The rug features a compact, heavy construction, indicative of high knot density and excellent material quality. The classic Savonnerie-inspired floral design is rendered on a smooth surface (no pile relief), with silk details finely integrated into the wool.
Condition: very good.
No tears or fraying.
Only a small light stain in one corner (visible in photographs).
Professional cleaning by specialists in fine carpets is recommended to properly preserve the silk and dyes. It should not be cleaned by domestic methods.
