Daniel Filipacchi, born January 12, 1928 in the 14th arrondissement of Paris, is the honorary president of Hachette Filipacchi Médias, of which he has made the world’s largest magazine publisher. He is the son of publisher Henri Filipacchi.

His life and career have revolved around his passions: jazz, photography, and art. We especially remember the host of the radio program Salut les Copains, and the former photographer who bought a flagging Paris Match to turn it into one of France’s most coveted and innovative magazines. For years, he built the Hachette Filipacchi press empire.

He was also recognized as one of the world’s leading experts and collectors of surrealist art. His collection was the subject of a major exhibition at the Guggenheim Museum in New York in 1999.
