A superbly preserved, museum-worthy monocular research microscope from the world-renowned German optical instrument maker Ernst Leitz of Wetzlar. This model, a so-called Medium-Sized Research Microscope (Stand C/G), is an iconic example of early 20th‑century precision engineering.

A beautiful optical contrast between the heavy, black-enameled cast-iron horseshoe foot and the highly polished and lacquered brass mechanical parts and optical tube.
Equipped with smooth coarse focus via rack-and-pinion and fine focus via the micrometer knob on the brass pillar.
Fitted with a round object table under which there is a complete adjustable condenser unit including iris diaphragm and a double-sided tiltable mirror (flat/concave) for optimal light input.
The microscope is supplied in its original sturdy wooden storage case with brass handle and hinges. The interior contains the original wooden recesses and velvet linings for a perfect, safe fit, as well as the wooden inserts for additional accessories (eyepieces/objectives).
