Description from the seller

Pair of Napoleon III Five-Light Candelabra in Patinated Metal and Marble

Pair of five-light table candelabra made of cast metal, probably bronze or patinated brass, set on black marble bases with lateral applications of reddish veined marble.

Each candelabrum features a turned central stem with curved scroll-shaped arms and stylised vegetal decoration. The candle holders are ornamentally engraved and fitted with lobed drip pans. The square bases rest on zoomorphic metal feet in the form of animal claws.

The contrast between dark marble and copper-toned patinated metal is characteristic of the Napoleon III / French Second Empire style of the late 19th century, circa 1870–1900.

Total width: 22.5 cm
Base depth: 8.7 cm
