Manises alabaster calcite table lamp with a pineapple carving in a vintage mid‑century modern style, white colour, 50 cm high with a 20×20 cm base, weighing 10 kg, one fitting, dating to 1970–1980, in good used condition with minor signs of age and a non‑functioning lamp holder.
Description from the seller
This piece is a vintage table lamp carved from calcite alabaster with a distinctive pineapple-shaped design.
It shows signs of age visible in the photographs: dirt and stains
The lamp socket does not work. I have not replaced it so the buyer can choose the socket and install either a modern or antique one
Details of the piece
Material: Antique alabaster or calcite: Historically the term "alabaster" was used for a variety of hard, heavy calcite, chemically identical to marble. As it is calcite, it also resists scratching with a fingernail
Design: It features a carved pineapple (a classic symbol of hospitality and welcome) crowned by detailed leaves at the top. The base consists of a cylindrical pedestal on a smooth, square block of the same material.
Era: This type of carved stone lamps were very popular in Italian artisan productions between the 1930s and 1950s.
The lamp is very heavy and extremely fragile, which is why shipping costs are high
