Wall clock - Ceramic - 1920-1930 - Pre-war German faience kitchen clock from the 1930s.

The item for auction is an authentic pre-war wall clock, an excellent example of German industrial design from the 1930s. This project represents the aesthetic pursuits of the Art Deco courant and early modernism from the Bauhaus circle, in which geometric rigor harmoniously blends with the luxurious finish of everyday objects. The clock draws the eye with its wavy, step-like case and refined patination, in which the cream dial mirror contrasts with the brown-beige, fluted sides that precisely imitate the natural grain of noble marble or syenite. A key collectible asset of the object is its fabrication from the original pre-war porcelain. The noble, thick glazing beautifully exposes the plastic reliefs and folds of the form, giving the whole piece depth and a unique character of artisanal craftsmanship from the interwar period. The dial preserves the epoch’s iconic, authentic typeface with the distinctive, bold architecture of the digits twelve, ten, and nine. On the back of the case there are original, deep factory recesses in the mass in the form of pattern and shape numbers 2699 and 6570, complemented by a stamp with the serial number 14, which unequivocally documents the meterage of the object and its origin from one of the leading German ceramic manufactories of that time. The clock features classic, representative proportions of 29 cm in width, 21.5 cm in height, and 2.5 cm in depth. The item is offered in a state suitable for restoration, forming a fantastic base for an antique collector or a craftsman. The pre-war ceramic housing has preserved its structural integrity, smooth glaze, and deep colors. The original mechanical spring movement has been removed in the past, and a contemporary quartz mechanism powered by a AA battery has been installed in its place, which is currently nonfunctional and requires replacement. On the dial there are two technical holes originally used to wind the clock with a key, and a lateral bolt of the integrated mechanical kitchen timer, which wonderfully underscores the historical authenticity of the item.
